Whether it is a licensed stock photograph, a press image supplied by a PR agency, official promotional material from a brand or cultural institution, an embedded public post from a social media platform, or original photography commissioned by our team, we assess rights before publication. Our Standards Desk, led by Oliver Reeves (Standards & Fact-Checking Lead), reviews attribution and ensures that all media is properly credited. Where an image is used under fair dealing or editorial exception, we note the source and context. We do not knowingly infringe copyright, and we expect the same respect from those who share our content.
Rights Assessment Before Use
Before any visual or audio material appears on NewsPrism.co.uk, our editors and fact-checkers verify its provenance. Licensed images come from reputable agencies; press images are provided with explicit permission for editorial use; official promotional materials are sourced directly from rights holders; embedded public posts (e.g. tweets, Instagram posts) are attributed to the creator and used only for news reporting or commentary. Original photography taken by our team is clearly marked. When in doubt, we seek written clearance — no shortcuts.
How to Submit a Takedown or Correction Request
If you believe that any content on NewsPrism.co.uk infringes your copyright, or that an image or media file has been misattributed or used without proper authorisation, please contact our designated copyright team by emailing copyright@newsprism.co.uk. To help us process your request quickly, please include:
- The exact URL(s) where the allegedly infringing content appears
- A description of the copyrighted material (e.g. photograph, illustration, video, still)
- Proof of your rights ownership or authority to act on behalf of the rights holder (e.g. a copyright registration number, a licence agreement, a statement of authorship)
- The reason for the request (infringement, misattribution, outdated material, etc.)
- Your full name, organisation (if applicable), email address and phone number (optional)

Our Response
Upon receiving a complete request, our Standards Desk will review it promptly — typically within two to five business days. We will then take one of the following actions: remove the content entirely, replace it with an alternative or corrected version, add or amend the credit line, or, if the claim is unfounded, explain our position in writing. Where appropriate, we will update the article with a note of the change. We take good faith claims seriously and aim to resolve them without litigation.
