Tip Us

Got a story that matters? Whether it is a government decision that raises eyebrows, a pattern of public spending that needs scrutiny, or a shift in your local high street that affects daily life, we want to hear from you. At NewsPrism.co.uk, every good tip starts with something concrete: a document, an observation, an experience. We are not looking for gossip or speculation — we are looking for information that can help readers understand how political decisions, business developments, technology trends and cultural shifts actually shape the UK.

What makes a good tip

Great tips often land at the intersection of public interest and new information. We are especially interested in:

  • Government decisions and policy changes that have not yet been widely reported, particularly those affecting public services, regulation or civil liberties
  • Public spending, procurement or contract awards that raise questions about value for money, transparency or conflicts of interest
  • Business developments such as major investments, restructuring, redundancies, pricing strategies or consumer-facing practices that affect households
  • Consumer issues including hidden fees, product safety concerns, misleading advertising or poor customer treatment by large organisations
  • Workplace stories that reveal systemic problems in industries, from unsafe conditions to unfair employment practices
  • Cultural events, community initiatives or local developments that reflect wider trends in British society
  • Anything that directly affects how people live, work, spend or engage with public institutions

If you are unsure whether your information qualifies, send it in. We would rather review something that turns out to be a dead end than miss a story that deserves attention.

How to reach us

We have dedicated inboxes to make sure your tip reaches the right desk quickly:

For general enquiries, use info@newsprism.co.uk. If you have a correction to request, that goes to corrections@newsprism.co.uk — see our corrections policy for details.

What to include

A strong tip typically covers the basics: who is involved, what happened, when and where it took place, and why it matters. If you have documents, screenshots, recordings, photographs, correspondence or datasets that support your account, please attach them or explain how we can access them. It is helpful to indicate whether what you are sharing is on the record (we can quote you by name), on background (we can use the information but not identify you), off the record (the information is for our understanding only, not for publication), or anonymous (we will not publish your name or any identifying detail). Our editors will discuss sourcing options with you before publication.

How we verify tips

Every tip we receive is handled by our standards desk, led by our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves. We do not publish anything on the basis of a single unnamed source or an unverifiable claim. Our verification process involves corroborating facts with independent evidence, checking documents for authenticity, contacting relevant parties for comment, and cross-referencing against public records. We never present rumours as facts. For a full explanation of our approach, please read our Sources & Standards page and our fact-checking policy. If you have concerns about the reliability of information you have seen elsewhere, you can forward it to factcheck@newsprism.co.uk.

Confidentiality and your data

Protecting the identity of people who come to us with sensitive information is a core part of our editorial ethics. If you need to discuss legal protections or secure methods of communication before sending a tip, contact legal@newsprism.co.uk. Any personal data you share with us is handled in accordance with our privacy policy. We will never share your contact details or the contents of your tip with third parties without your explicit consent, except where required by law.

What happens after submission

We aim to acknowledge every tip within five working days. Depending on volume, it may take longer for a full response. If we decide to pursue your tip, an editor or reporter will follow up to discuss next steps. If we cannot take the story forward, we will let you know as soon as possible — though we may keep your information on file for future reference. For general updates on your submission, see our contact page.

We take every submission seriously. Your tip could help us tell a story that would otherwise go untold. Thank you for trusting us with it.
