At NewsPrism.co.uk we believe in being straightforward about the content we publish. Sponsored content is material that a commercial partner has paid us to produce or distribute. This includes articles, videos, infographics, newsletters, or other formats that appear on our site. Sponsored content is distinctly different from our independent editorial output because it is created under a commercial agreement. It may be written by our editorial team in collaboration with the partner, or supplied by the partner itself. Regardless of origin, all sponsored content is clearly identified so you can always tell the difference between paid-for messaging and our own independent journalism.
How We Label Sponsored Content
Every piece of sponsored content on NewsPrism carries one of the following labels, placed prominently at the top of the page or within the article itself:
- “Sponsored by [Brand]” – the content is funded by a single brand and produced under our editorial control, with the brand’s approval limited to factual accuracy and brand-safety.
- “Advertisement feature” – the content is supplied or commissioned by an advertiser and may not reflect the views of NewsPrism’s editorial team.
- “Paid partnership with [Brand]” – used when we collaborate with a brand to create content that is co-branded and often distributed across our channels.
- “In association with [Brand]” – typically applied to series, sections, or special reports that a brand has sponsored but that are produced editorially.
These labels are never hidden, placed deep in the text, or made to blend into the design. They are immediately visible alongside the headline or in the article metadata.
Rules Governing Sponsored Content
We operate a strict set of rules to protect the trust you place in us:
- All sponsored content is clearly labelled. No exceptions.
- Commercial partners cannot approve, edit, or influence our independent editorial reviews, product tests, or news reports – unless the piece is itself labelled as sponsored. In those cases, the partner may review factual claims and brand messaging, but never the editorial judgement or opinion of our writers.
- Sponsored material is never disguised as independent editorial. There is no such thing as “native advertising” that omits a label. If it’s paid for, you will know.
- We never accept sponsorship that would require us to suppress, alter, or omit independent editorial content as a condition of payment.
How Sponsored Content Differs from Other Content
Sponsored Content vs. Affiliate Links
Affiliate links are ordinary editorial links through which we may earn a small commission if you buy a product or service. They do not involve a brand paying us to produce the article itself. For full details of how we handle affiliate relationships, see our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.
Sponsored Content vs. Independent Reviews
Independent reviews are written entirely by our editorial team, without payment from the subject of the review. Our reviewers are free to reach any conclusion, favourable or critical. Sponsored content, by contrast, is produced with the involvement or approval of a paying partner. For the principles behind our independent tests and reviews, read the Reviews Policy.
Editorial Independence
Our fundamental commitment is that no commercial relationship – whether sponsorship, advertising, or affiliate – ever determines what we report or how we report it. Sponsorship does not buy favourable treatment, silence criticism, or grant access to our editorial processes. Full details of how we safeguard editorial independence are set out in our Editorial Policy and our Ownership & Funding page.
